What is endodontics?

Endodontics focuses on the inner part of the teeth: the root canal. This area contains nerve tissue, blood vessels, and connective tissue. A root canal treatment is, from a technical point of view, a highly complex procedure.

Most dental treatments can be performed reliably by your own dentist. However, in some cases a more specialised approach is required, for example in the case of a root canal treatment. At PC2 Tandartsen, we have a strong focus on endodontics, which is why you may be referred to us by your own dentist. Treatment is always carried out in close consultation with your referring dentist.

Today, root canal treatments can be performed successfully and comfortably. Although the procedure is time-consuming, it allows for very precise cleaning of the inside of the tooth or molar, after which it is filled. Sometimes this can be completed in a single visit, which is efficient and convenient. In other cases, a second appointment may be necessary. For specific information about the treatment, we refer you to the patient leaflets mentioned alongside this page, which can be easily downloaded.

All treatments are performed using a rubber dam: a protective rubber sheet that ensures the procedure is carried out efficiently and hygienically.

We always perform root canal treatments using a microscope.
